PERFECT

I just want to be perfect,
Have silky hair and skin.
Possess an hourglass body,
They say that to be happy
You must be thin.
Life becomes bare numbers
To be joyful keep them small
Burn them off
To feel the fill
And just feel nothing at all.
Compare yourself to others
Though you'll never be like them,
Measure and remember
They will always be too big.
Ignore the pain within your body
Isn't that what beauty means?
To walk around empty
Of heart
Of soul
But beautiful you'll forever be.
Skin on bones,
Is that really beauty?
Yet all I see on TV screens
Is a stand up ovation
To everything but me.
